FLSA Status: Non-exempt, PT (20 hrs./week)

 

Reports to: ICHWA Board of Directors

Location: Remote, Preference in Idaho

 

Pay Range: $26-$30/hr. DOE

About ICHWA

 

The Idaho Community Health Workers Association (ICHWA) is Idaho’s statewide association for Community Health Workers (CHWs), CHW Allies/Advocates, and External Supporters. 

Founded in 2020, ICHWA’s mission includes:

elevate the work of its members

nurture partnerships that lead to healthier communities. 

We envision a world in which community health workers are empowered as agents of change for healthier communities.

We have four principal areas of focus for programming and operations:

  • Professional Development and Training

  • Public Awareness and Information

  • Collaboration with Other Organizations for Healthier Communities

  • State Policy Monitoring and Advocacy

ICHWA is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of 9-15 individuals with a passion for connecting, educating, and advocating for the community health worker profession in Idaho.

The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a half-time Executive Director who can build and grow ICHWA into a strong, impactful organization that represents and supports the community health worker profession. With day-to-day operational responsibility for ICHWA’s programs, the Executive Director’s initial priorities will include:

  • Recruiting new members

  • Supporting and possibly developing educational opportunities for CHWs

  • Building relationships and partnerships

  • Raising funds to support ICHWA’s work

  • Planning and managing programs

  • Implementing marketing and communications

  • Recruiting and engaging volunteers

  • Maintaining office systems and processes

  • Managing finances

  • Executing the board’s strategic plan

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a community health worker or close familiarity working with community health workers 

  • 3+ years’ experience as a manager in a nonprofit or similar organization

  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, business, organizational development, public health, healthcare administration, or related field

  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial management; ability to develop and manage budgets

  • Demonstrated expertise with professional writing (e.g. grants, technical writing, etc.), project management, and planning online and in-person events

  • Marketing and communication skills including social media, website management, non-profit management software

  • Compassionate and practitioner of cultural humility, especially towards the disenfranchised; demonstrating a commitment to social justice

  • Mission-driven and goal-oriented

  • Flexible self-starter; ability to perform at a high level with minimal supervision and the utmost integrity

  • Confident and effective public speaker with strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates effective coalition building across cultural differences; engaging diverse stakeholders including members, funders, partners, policymakers, and state and community leaders

  • Familiar with resource development and able to generate resources through a mix of membership dues, grants, corporate sponsorships, fundraising, individual gifts, and revenue-generating opportunities

  •  

  • Familiarity or experience with Idaho’s major health systems and state government

  • A track record of operationalizing strategies that take a program or an organization to the next stage of growth

  • Experience crafting and advocating for policies at state levels

Working conditions

  • Ability to work from home

  • Occasional travel (<10%)

  • Ability to occasionally work additional hours for certain deadlines
